The Challenge: A regional company wanted to create a monthly award that honored people in its communities doing work that reinforced a key message of the company.
The Strategy: CMC implemented an award that would recognize ordinary people making extraordinary contributions. Our work included creating an internal process that included generating and vetting nominations, interviewing winners and writing their stories, creating an internal committee to increase employee participation and buy-in, writing website and internal newsletter content, and presenting results of the public relations campaign at company meetings.
The Outcome: In its first year, the company received nearly 50 nominations representing all its markets, grassroots heroes put forward by team members, friends and family, and community members. Stories were shared on social media, by Chambers of Commerce, and published in local newspapers. One Facebook post about an award winner was shared more than 200 times.
